"Summer, Man"

It's been a while since I've updated this... Time flies when you're having fun, I guess? At any rate, I guess I'll just give a quick rundown of what's been happening...

My new little nephew Nathan will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. The easiest way to sum up how that's been is that it's going to take a lot of convincing to get me to go back to Bloomington in the fall. In fact, if it weren't for all the amazing people that will be there when I arrive, I'd transfer to USI just so I wouldn't have to leave.

That being said, I've revived my dream of marching drum corps. I've decided to stop leaning on my knee as an excuse, and I've spent a good part of the summer trying to get in shape. It's frustrating to be honest--with all the work I've been doing, I still haven't lost any weight, but I lift more and more every time I go to the gym and my pants fit much better than they used to. This would all be good and well if I hadn't set a goal for myself: when I lose twenty pounds, I can buy my new phone. Haha. We'll see how that one goes...

Back to my nephew. As much as I hate to brag, I think me and the little guy have a special connection. As soon as he was born, I kept joking about how we he doesn't need a pacifier--he should be happy when I'm around. I must've kept it going long enough because now, EVERY time he sees me, he immediately spits out his pacifier and is completely silent. He even recognizes my voice on the phone and will spit it out if he can hear me. It's adorable.

When I'm not hanging out with him and my other nephews, I'm either working or trying to get things done for my online class at Ivy Tech. The class is absolutely terrible. It's about using technology in education, and it's just pointless right now. The material is all stuff I've known since at least junior high (how to use basic functions in Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the setup of the class itself is just terrible. I don't even know what to do with it anymore. I thought about just not doing it anymore, but then I would've wasted $500 and I'll have to take the class in the fall, only I'll have to actually GO to class instead of just doing it all online whenever I want.

As far as work goes, I'm actually pretty cool with how things are going in general. I'm looking for a new job in the fall because I just don't think I can handle going back to make pretzels for the whole school year. Plus, there's just too much drama involved with actually getting the hours I want. So I'm sticking out the pretzel shop while I'm at home, but then it's time to graduate from fast food and do something more... respectable. I'm not ragging on working in food places because honestly they're a GREAT place to get your employment history started. But when you've been making chicken sandwiches and/or pretzels since your freshman year of high school and you're going into your third year of college, it's time to move on...

Memorial's show is going well though. The first two chunks of the show are completely written, and they've basically written themselves. Now we've got a lot of cleaning to do and we still have to write the third part, which is just a beast. I can't even begin to describe it. With as much as we have done, we haven't gotten a single idea for the last part. This week is our last color guard camp before band camp, so hopefully we'll get something put together before we head off to camp.

In other news, I have gotten to enjoy a few things this summer. I took a vacation in Bloomington for a day and got to hang out with Jenna and three of my good friends up there. Plus, I got a sweet new "bed in a bag" set for my room. It sounds lame, but I've been looking for new sheets for my room for a while now. And now my semi-remodel of my room is almost done. I just have to figure out what to do with that big white spot next to my window. I'm thinking about buying the TWLOHA poster and putting some pictures around it. I'm pretty sure would make my room one of the sweetest places ever.

I can't wait to decorate my own house. That's going to be so rad.

Final thought: I need this. And follow me on Twitter--it's like my blog, only I update it more. And talk about drum corps a LOT.
