The days I've been home from Bloomington have gone by a lot faster than I expected. Three days after I got home my baby nephew Nathan was born, and the house was bustling with excitement and my older nephews from the moment I got home until the moment Nathan was born. After that I returned to pretzel paradise at Auntie Anne's and tried to enjoy what little time I have left with my best friend still in town before she heads off to Virginia on Thursday.
And I just now finished unpacking and cleaning my room.
While you can't tell by looking at my room 345 days out of the year, I really do enjoy my room being clean. And the cleaning process is stressful, but absolutely worth it. And sometimes it's just enlightening.
I started looking through old books: our first grade memory book, sixth grade memory book, and a few yearbooks from seventh grade to my senior year. In first grade, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up and my favorite color was purple. In sixth grade, I was embarrassingly optimistic with an even more embarrassing sense of style. In seventh grade, I was terribly overweight and a terrible writer. And senior year, I left something to be proud of.
Flash forward to this year. I have every reason to think that this is the most crucial point of my life. I can't help but hope that five years from now I'll look back at it all and laugh, but for now I've just got to turn things around.
So, to those of you still reading this, welcome to the clean-up. Enjoy the ride, and feel free to join.
