So I haven't written anything of substance for a while, so I was absolutely thrilled when I cranked this baby out. It is far from being finished and I literally wrote it in twenty minutes, so I have some work to do, but I was so excited to actually write something that I just wanted to put it out there and see what people have to say. So, I hope you enjoy this.
Concrete paths trace lines through
the broken earth still bleeding
from the sins we commit.
The night is just a cover.
We bury the evidence,
with silent hope for tomorrow.
The sun will bring light to our sorrow
and all will be well again.
But the sun still rises on broken hearts,
still too scared to mend themselves,
to be rid of the demons lurking in the shadows.
No golden dot in the sky can heal these hearts,
or boil the poison from these wounds.
We cover them with cement and follow them home.
Our mistakes won't find us here,
beneath the safety of gray permanence.
These roads never led home anyway.
