it's weird how i just happen to read things when i need to read them.
i was having my quiet time earlier when i came across the part of matthew where Jesus tells peter to forgive his brother not seven times, but seventy-seven times, and then goes into a parable about a guy who is given forgiveness on a debt and then turns around and doesn't forgive someone who owes him money (matthew 18:21-35).
lately i've been having a hard time trying to forgive the people who have wronged me in the past, especially during my senior year. but after reading that, i realize now that forgiveness isn't an option--if i'm going to try to follow Christ, i've got to let go and honestly forgive these people from the bottom of my heart, even if it's going to be really really hard. and while i can't honestly say that i forgive them now, at least now i'm starting to let go of it, and someday i'll be able to forgive them, and myself for the things that i did wrong.
but regardless, it just really hit me today that forgiveness isn't something nice that we do, it's something that we're called to do. period.

I have a quote about forgiveness in my room that I'll have to send your way, but I COMPLETELY understand what you're going through right now. The Lord worked on my heart at Christmas Conference in this very area, and it took breaking me down into a balling mess several times before I was able to even begin to forgive my dad for crushing me in the past.
But the Lord is amazing and if you're looking for him for forgiveness to those people who have hurt you, you're going to get there in time. It's not easy and it's not a short process, but if the Lord is able to forgive us for all the CRAP that we do to him every single day of our lives, how easy will it be for us to forgive those who have wronged us?
"'Come now, let us argue this out,' says the LORD. 'No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool'" (Isaiah 1:18).
