So, tonight I began the daunting task of teaching my entire floor how to do "Thriller."
First, a little back story. I'm not sure how it came up, but one of the girls in Memorial's guard thought it would be really awesome if the entire guard learned "Thriller" and then did it at the dance at the end of band camp. So, Sam, being the awesomely resourceful person that she is, got online and found a 30-part video tutorial on how to do the entire dance. So Sam taught everyone how to do the dance, and since I was in Indianapolis the day they taught it, they taught me all during band camp, and we performed it on the last night at the dance.
Fast forward to now. I was talking to one of my friends on the floor about learning the entire dance, and she said it would be absolutely amazing if we did it at the Halloween dance this year.
So we took it upon ourselves to make it a floor activity, and last night--after the floor got done watching Mean Girls--I announced that we would be learning it tonight at 9:30.
When I walked into the lounge, half the people who were REALLY excited last night decided that August is way too early to be learning a dance we'll be doing in October. So I took the ones willing to learn down the basement--which I found out was half full of RANDOM pieces of furniture--and taught them as much as they could handle. And let's just say if everyone else learns at this rate, we really do need to start now if we want to do this in October, and I'm pretty sure everyone who was there tonight will completely agree.
It's a lot harder than it looks.
