Getting Out There

As part of my "new and improved" outgoing side, I've begun to actually talk to complete strangers, and so far it's gone well.

CultureFest was Thursday, and it was really cool because I got to hang out with Leigh and Claire, plus my friend Jordan who just transferred to IU, and a couple of people he had just met, Kelly and Emily. It was a good time, and the speaker at CultureFest was talking about treating each other with respect and loving people, which is one of those topics that seem to keep popping up around me. I didn't get to experience a whole lot of new food, but the crab rangoon and samosa from the Asian food place was delicious, as was the GLBT ice cream. Good stuff.

Anyway, the biggest events in the last two nights were the first Cru meeting and my second night at work. The first Cru meeting went really great, especially since I really wasn't looking forward to it all that much for a variety of reasons. But I actually talked to a few new people--not as many as I would've liked, but still a step up for me--and enjoyed a nice, long game of volleyball with a bunch of complete strangers. And I found out that I'm really not as terrible at volleyball as I had expected, or else everyone else that I was playing with was just really, really bad.

It was then that I also learned that the population of Forest residents at Cru is ridiculously small, because everyone I met was living in Teter and they only wanted to talk to other Teter residents. Go figure.

As for my second night at work, it went surprisingly well when I started to actually talk to my co-workers. Granted, the people I worked with weren't sisters and weren't in their own little world for the entire night and that made it a lot better than Wednesday night, but it was still a good time.

And tomorrow I get to wake up bright and early and go to a brand new church!

Plus, there's a little surprise in store for tomorrow night... Maybe I'll get some pictures up, too. That'd be kickin'.
