unmuzzled

i'm just going to start writing--this has absolutely no prior thought put into it, so there's no telling what happens in this blog.

the summer is so much more enjoyable when you have money. it's actually really sad that this is the truth about life in a capitalist society, but it is. especially when you're not a little kid anymore because playing basketball for some reason just isn't an enjoyable pastime anymore, and whenever your friends want to hang out it always involves either or both of two things: food and money. of course, i am actually trying to lose weight (contrary to popular belief) so i don't want to eat all the time and i'm in college, so the money part is pretty difficult too. and i need to buy a mac before the beginning of fall semester. ugh.

speaking of macs, i'm still considering transferring to ball state, but we'll have to see about that one. i know for sure that i will be back at indiana this fall since i have everything in line, so the absolute earliest i would transfer is spring 2009.

anyway, summer break would also be more enjoyable if i didn't have allergies or if my allergy medicine actually worked. but neither of those things have happened yet. so yeah, so far my summer break has been pretty miserable because every time i walk outside i want to hurt something because i sneeze so much.

not being outside is a problem because i've recently discovered (rediscovered?) my interest in baseball. my nephew is playing in a league and i've been watching his games and he's always asking me to play with him outside so he can practice batting. i'm absolutely terrible at pitching, but i rock at catching--one thing that color guard helped me with is catching things that are coming directly at my face. but i'm trying to watch some cardinals games on tv whenever i'm actually home and not doing anything. i discovered i need to use my time much more wisely than i do right now, especially since i have a job.

one of my biggest time-wasters is something that i promised myself i'd never get involved in, but my nephews got me hooked... i have only admitted this to maybe three people outside my family, but i might as well go "public" (because seriously, does anyone read this?) with this: i am the (somewhat) proud owner of a blue rhino webkinz. Yes, the stuffed animals you buy in a store and play with online. it's terribly childish, but incredibly addicting. nick told me that i needed to get one, and i figured it couldn't hurt anything, and now i'm actually interested in it. i'm sure the novelty will wear off incredibly soon, but for now it's taking up way too much time than it should, and im debating on whether or not it should take up any time at all... but alas, i love my rhino.

i started reading cormac mccarthy's the road not too long ago, and i'm still trying to decide if i like it. i definitely like it more now than when i started, but i'm not sure if i really like it or not. i suppose i'll find out when i get to the ending, but then again i still haven't formed an opinion on whether i liked the catcher in the rye when it was all said and done... so there's no telling.

also in the line of books, but much better than any novel... i just got the message remix in the mail yesterday and i started reading a couple chapters out of it and i really must recommend it to anyone who finds reading the Bible difficult. it totally makes it more accessible and understandable and i wouldn't replace my regular Bible for the message remix, but it's good to have when you hit a part that just doesn't make sense. so definitely check it out.

also, find the song "konstantine" by something corporate. it's really an amazing song.

I was wondering if you were ever going to consider transferring to BSU. It really is a great school for TCOM even if you really love IU.

And I can't read your blog without having lines appear on the next pages I read because the lines on your background BURN into my retinas! haha
